Product Quality and Performance
What makes RoadRunner Scooters different from other brands?
We design scooters with enthusiasts in mind β combining performance, reliability, and rider comfort. Each model is engineered for Australian roads and tested for real-world conditions.
How durable are RoadRunner scooters?
Built with aircraft-grade aluminum, premium battery systems, and water-resistant components, our scooters are made to last. We stand behind the quality of every unit we ship.
Can I use a Scooter in the rain?
Our scooters have an IP67 rating, which means they can safely be ridden in the rain.
To avoid damage, please refrain from leaving your scooter outdoors during heavy downpours, as excessive water exposure can be harmful. Additionally, never submerge the deck or wheels under water, as this can cause irreparable damage.
How do I clean my scooter?
The RS5 and RX7 scooters come with an IP67 rating, allowing them to withstand water exposure, so using a hose for cleaning is perfectly acceptable. However, itβs important to avoid high-pressure water directly on the scooter to protect the seals and sensitive components.
For our D4+ models, we strongly recommend using a damp sponge or cloth with mild cleaners or dish soap for cleaning, as these scooters are not designed for water exposure. A toothbrush and scrub brush can effectively clean those hard-to-reach areas on all models
How to avoid flat tires
Flat tires may result from various factors. It is crucial to adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Tire Pressure: Maintain the air pressure within both scooter tires at all times. Refer to the specified PSI (pressure per square inch) value indicated on the sidewall of the tire. It is advisable to inflate the tires once the pressure drops to approximately 4 PSI below this specified value. For instance, if your tires have a recommended pressure of 50 PSI, refill them when they reach around 46 PSI.
2. Installation: When installing a new tube, ensure that it retains approximately 1 PSI of pressure. This helps the tube maintain its shape and prevents pinches or folds, which can lead to flats. Additionally, tighten the main hub bolts in a star pattern to distribute bolt torque evenly.
3. Hazards: If your tubes consistently suffer from flats, inspect the interior of the tire or rim for any sharp edges or objects. These may puncture the tubes and cause flats. Regular inspection and removal of such hazards are essential for preventing tire damage.
Where are your scooters manufactured?
At RoadRunner, our manufacturing process begins with designing all of our scooters from the ground up at our headquarters in Denver, CO. We then deliver these CAD files to our private factory located in Shanghai, China, where each scooter is meticulously built to specification by our Shanghai-based engineering team. We strictly adhere to our manufacturing processes, and we own the molds for every RoadRunner scooter model. Each RoadRunner scooter is methodically assembled by hand and undergoes rigorous testing and certification before being packaged and shipped to customers around the world.
What is the weight limit on your scooters?
The manufacturer weight limits are detailed on the product page of each scooter.
Do RoadRunner Scooters have VIN numbers, and where can I find them?
Yes, every RoadRunner Scooter is manufactured with a unique serial/VIN number etched on the frame. You can find the VIN located underneath the battery and also on the side of the yoke near the front wheel.
Do you offer discount codes or coupons?
At RoadRunner Scooters, we conduct a few sales promotions throughout the year and periodically offer additional discount codes. These exclusive codes can only be found at checkout, ensuring our customers receive the best possible value on our scooter products.
What type of terrain can my scooter handle?
At RoadRunner, we design our scooters for every possible condition. Each model is specifically highlighted on its respective product page, detailing the terrain it performs best in, including urban streets, bike paths, and light off-road conditions.
How do I secure my scooter to prevent theft?
To prevent theft, always use a sturdy lock to secure your scooter to a fixed object. For added security, we recommend using a combination of a U-lock and a cable lock. Additionally, consider installing an AirTag or a similar GPS tracking device for further protection. Be sure to store your scooter in a safe location when it is not in use.
Orders, Shipping and Returns
What is shipping insurance and do I need it?
Shipping insurance protects your scooter against loss, theft, or damage during transit. It ensures financial protection, covering repair or replacement costs if something happens to your scooter while it's being shipped. Coverage ends once the delivery is completed and a signature is obtained, confirming receipt. If you have more questions, please contact our customer service team.
Can I change the shipping address once my scooter has been shipped?
Once a scooter has been dispatched from our warehouse, we are unable to modify the shipping address. It is imperative to ensure the accuracy of the address provided during checkout to prevent any potential complications.
Additionally, if you used a third-party payment service, such as Affirm or Katapult, you must receive approval from them before requesting an address change with us.
Thank you for your understanding, and for choosing RoadRunner Scooters!
Where is my package?
Your tracking number for all scooters and parts will be automatically generated and sent to you via email with the subject line "Shipping Confirmation." You can expect to receive this notification within 24 hours of placing your order, excluding weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
Please note that RoadRunner Scooters relies solely on the tracking information provided by UPS or FedEx and cannot provide additional details regarding your delivery timeline.
If your tracking number shows that your package has been delivered but you haven't received it, we recommend checking with neighbors, roommates, or family members. Once the scooter leaves our warehouse, we are unable to intervene.
How much does shipping cost?
Orders for new scooters and parts totaling over $250 qualify for complimentary ground shipping within the 48 contiguous United States.
For shipments to Alaska and Hawaii, an additional shipping fee applies. The shipping cost is contingent upon each scooter and will be clearly displayed during the checkout process.
Why does my tracking information show my scooter hasn't been shipped?
Orders for scooters placed by NOON MST typically undergo shipment on the same day, excluding weekends. Weekend orders commence shipping on Monday mornings. Please allow up to 48 hours for tracking information to be updated.
In the event that a shipping label has been generated but the scooter has not yet shipped, this is often due to missed scans by the shipping carrier, particularly with our sizable packaging. Occasionally, packages may be temporarily misplaced, resulting in a missed label scan. Rest assured, any discrepancies will be rectified upon arrival at the subsequent facility.
Can I purchase an extended warranty after I have purchased my scooter
Yes, you have until the last day of your manufacturers warranty to add an extended warranty purchase.
Do I need to register my scooter to be elligible for warranty coverage
You do not need to register your scooter to submit a warranty claim with our team. Please make sure to keep record of your order number or the email you used to make the purchase for us to properly find your purchase.
Technical Support
How do I improve the range of my electric scooter?
To improve the range of your electric scooter, ensure the tires are properly inflated, avoid excessive acceleration and braking, reduce weight, and ride on smooth, flat surfaces. Regular maintenance and proper battery care also help.
What is the recommended tire pressure for my scooter?
The recommended tire pressure varies by model. Refer to your user manual or the tire sidewall for the correct pressure range. Maintaining proper tire pressure ensures a smooth and safe ride.
How can I repair and maintain the scooter at home?
For routine maintenance and repairs, we recommend accessing our comprehensive support library, which features a plethora of articles and instructional videos tailored to each scooter model. We encourage proactive maintenance and, if required, repairs using the provided tools at home. Should you encounter more complex issues, we can facilitate referral to one of our trusted service partners.
What do I need to know about the batteries?
Our lithium-ion battery packs, available in various sizes, typically exhibit a lifespan of 400-700 charging cycles. Over time, a natural decrease in riding range and maximum voltage occurs due to the inherent chemistry of these batteries, leading to diminished cell capacity.
For comprehensive insights into extending battery lifespan, please refer to the accompanying article.
Outlined below are fundamental tips:
1. Maintain an optimal temperature: Avoid exposing batteries to excessive heat during charging or operation. While lithium-ion batteries are more resilient in cold conditions compared to other types, extreme temperatures compromise their energy storage and release capabilities. We recommend storing your scooter within a temperature range of 50Β°F to 70Β°F for optimal performance.
2. Ensure adequate airflow: Proper ventilation is crucial for battery health, as it helps dissipate heat and maintain operational efficiency.
3. Prevent exposure to moisture: Avoid riding through puddles or snow, as moisture infiltration into the battery can cause damage. Please note that water-damaged scooters are not covered under our warranty guarantee.
4. Opt for slower charging: Particularly for smaller battery packs, a slower charging rate (such as with the standard 2A chargers provided) is preferable to preserve battery life.
5. Avoid overcharging: While our chargers feature automatic shutdown mechanisms upon reaching full charge, it's advisable to disconnect the charger from the scooter's charging port once charging is complete (indicated by a green light).
What is a steering damper and do I need one?
What is a steering damper on an electric scooter? A steering damper, also known as a steering stabilizer, is a device designed to reduce unwanted vibrations and oscillations in the handlebars of an electric scooter. It enhances stability and control by minimizing the impact of road irregularities and sudden movements on the scooter's steering.
Why do electric scooters need a steering damper? Electric scooters, like other two-wheeled vehicles, can be affected by factors such as road imperfections, wind gusts, and sudden maneuvers. A steering damper helps dampen these external forces, providing a smoother and more controlled riding experience.
How does a steering damper work? A steering damper operates by using hydraulic or mechanical means to absorb and dissipate excessive forces that can lead to unwanted handlebar movements. It acts as a buffer between the handlebars and the scooter's frame, reducing the impact of shocks and vibrations.
What are the benefits of having a steering damper on an electric scooter?
Improved Stability: Reduces wobbling and instability caused by road conditions or sudden maneuvers.
Enhanced Control: Minimizes handlebar kickback and promotes smoother steering response.
Increased Safety: Helps prevent speed wobbles and improves overall rider confidence.
